SanusiSuspension Will Affect Economy Negatively – Atiku, It’s A Dark Cloud – Ezekwesili, SSS After Sanusi – El-Rufai

Nigeria’s former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has taken time to condemn the President’s move to suspend the Central Bank Governor until the yesterday’s controversial suspension, Sanusi Lamid Sanusi. Taking to his Twitter page to air his views, the Turakin Adamawa stated that, “Instead of playing politics with the institution of the CBN, our FG should be building an economy that creates more jobs for Nigerians. Our nation at the moment needs economic stability and investor confidence – the FG’s actions will affect the economy negatively. If this CBN Governor’s suspension is not contested in court, it could set a dangerous precedent for the future – economically & politically.  The Constitution is sacrosanct. It cannot be toyed with at the convenience of the government. FG must respect constitutional process.” Concluded the APC chieftain.

Former Vice President of the World Bank (Africa) Oby Ezekwesili on her part said the suspension was likely to raise questions about the government’s commitment to accountability. You can read more on her take here, There Is A Dark Cloud of Distrust Around Sanusi’s Suspension – Oby Ezekwesili .The New York Times described the President astoo casual with corruption while Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said he’d challenge the decision even though he had no plans to return to the job. He also stated that no matter what happens, Jonathan cannot suspend the truth . Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has meanwhile indicated that the State Security Service could get busy with the suspended Lamido Sanusi in what is likely to be a witch hunt seeing he vowed to continue his demand that the right thing be done about alleged $20 billion NNPC scam. El-Rufai shared on his Facebook page, “Just learnt that the SSS has obtained an arrest warrant that discloses no criminal offence to detain and gag SLS. Jonathanian gangsters afraid that when he walks free, he’ll defend himself of the spurious and actionable allegations of the morally-flexible. The SSS has also obtained a warrant to search SLS’ residence in Abuja to retrieve any documents of their money laundering crimes that he may have. We know. We are ready. They have failed. Brainless gangsters!” As it is, this appears a major issue on the Nigerian socio-economic scene and it further relegates a no less important issue of daily bombings in the northeast by Boko Haram members. The government is yet to make any major statement concerning the 20 abducted schoolgirls nor has it spoken concerning the latest Boko Haram attacks. #BornoMassacre is the hashtag document the latest attacks on Twitter.
