Evading Her Certificate Scandal, Aviation Minister Stella Oduah Takes ‘Medical’ Leave

Image
ew York Embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, has not returned to Abuja after SaharaReporters broke the news of her certificate scandal, presidency sources said on Tuesday. They told SaharaReporters the minister informed President Goodluck Jonathan that she was attending to her medical needs in Brazil, following which she apparently left for an undisclosed country. Mrs. Oduah, who was also embroiled in a BMW purchase scandal prior to the certificate mess, reportedly took off from Nigeria after the report of a presidential panel indicting her for a string of corrupt practices was leaked to her. The panel reportedly went beyond its initial brief to unravel a string of corrupt acts of the minister including how she connived with commercial banks to receive kickbacks for renovation projects initiated at airports across the country. The panel, which was set up by President Jonathan in October to look into how she squeezed the cash-strapped Nigerian Civil Aviation Author

Police showed up at  Justin Bieber 's door this morning with a warrant, looking for evidence that Bieber & Co. caused $20,000 in damages to his neighbor's mansion by throwing eggs at it. (Not sure how that's possible, exactly—is your mansion made out of sugar cubes? Are you the Nome King? But okay, I will take your word for it because I do not know very much about mansions.) They seized video footage from Bieber's extensive security system, and wound up arresting rapper  Lil Za  for alleged possession of what they initially believed to be cocaine (sources now say the substance might be Ecstasy or Xanax). Bieber and several house guests were asleep in the home when deputies arrived at 8 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. David Thompson. He was cooperative with the dozen deputies, but he did not answer questions about the alleged vandalism, Thompson said. ...One of Bieber's house guests, rapper Lil Za, was arrested when deputies allegedl

US Gives Nigeria Knocks For Banning Same-s*x Marriage

Image
The United States on Monday criticized Nigeria for approving a law that punishes same-s*x marriage with prison, saying the move would curtail basic human rights. Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States was “deeply concerned” by Nigeria’s new law which “dangerously restricts freedom of assembly, association and expression for all Nigerians”. Kerry said the act “is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 constitution. “People everywhere deserve to live in freedom and equality. No one should face violence or discrimination for who they are or who they love”, Kerry said in a statement. Under the new law, anyone in a same-s*x marriage or union would face up to 14 years in prison, with such partnerships reached overseas considered void in Nigeria. President Goodluck Jonathan signed the law because he considered it consistent with most Nigerians’ views tow

Forbes magazine has released a ranking of the 21 richest Nigerians. Surprisingly, the richest woman in Africa, Folorunsho Alakija, who possesses $600 million (N97 billion) is missing from the list. According to journal, the value of shares held in quoted companies, size and market share of their companies, number of companies they own and its assumed value and the impact of the companies on the Nigerian economy were the yardstick used in compiling the list. Folorunsho Alakija, Forbes magazine reports, started her career in the mid 1970s as a secretary at the now-defunct International Merchant Bank of Nigeria but in the 1980s she moved to the fashion industry. Rivers Crisis: Police Now Strong-Arm Division Of Presidency – Tinubu

Image

Reacting to the reported shootings by the police at the rally organized by the Save Rivers Movement in Rivers State on Sunday which left a serving senator in critical condition, Tinubu lamented that the Jonathan-led government, which had sworn to an oath to uphold the public order, now constitutes a menace to the very people it made the pledge to uphold. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Sunday Dare, the former Lagos State governor described the brutal disruption of the rally organized by the Save Rivers Movement in Rivers State on Sunday by the police as another dimension to the dangerous course the present government has charted.
