Show Proof Of Jonathan Single Term Document, Ex-Zamfara Gov Tells Nyako, Others

rebel-govsA former governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, has challenged aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, who claimed that President Goodluck Jonathan signed an agreement not to seek reelection come 2015, to produce the document so as to put the matter to rest once and for all. Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, last week resurrected the issue of a single term agreement when he claimed that his colleague in Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu was in possession of the document. However, Shinkafi, who also decried the introduction of religion and ethnicity into politics, challenged “those who insist that President Goodluck Jonathan signed a single-term pact” to “make the document public”. Shinkafi, who lost his governorship reelection bid in 2011 to the incumbent, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, also confirmed that he would give it a shot again in 2015, saying the popularity of his former boss now federal lawmaker, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima, would pose no threat to the actualization of his ambition. Shinkafi, who is Chairman, Board of Trustees of National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, told journalists on Thursday in Abuja that the defection of some aggrieved members of the PDP to the APC was not a minus for the ruling party. He, however, said a critical appraisal of recent developments in Kaduna, Niger, Jigawa and Kogi states, which are all PDP-controlled states suggested that “there is no way somebody can convince anybody in Nigeria that there is North and South divide in politics, it is not there”. The ex-governor added, “If it is there, let somebody come and convince us. If there is any document signed by Mr President that he will do single term, they would have made it public by now. “You cannot say that the defection by some PDP members to APC is total minus to PDP because it is not through an election. It is just because of the crisis that a member defects. Members of the PDP are still there. You only know when another election comes in 2015”.
