A gang of thugs have stabbed the vice chairman of a branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to death, Punch Metro Reports. It was learnt that the victim, Seyi Olaleye, aka Seyi Rugged, was killed on Moore Street, off Apapa Road in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State. Our correspondent was told that Olaleye, who was in his 30s, was the vice chairman, NURTW, Deji Ayewa, Costain branch. It was learnt that he was killed during a clash with a group of thugs led by one Waheed aka Skippo. Report says Skippo and Seyi Rugged and their respective followers had been at loggerheads for some times. It was learnt that the fresh crisis began after some of Skippo’s boys attacked Seyi Rugged’s boys during a carnival in the first week of January. A couple identified as Keith Payton and Salina Johnson, from Pennsylvania, lost their lives on Friday when they decided to have s*x in a car parked in the garage. The couple, both 40, had left the engine of the car running, probably to make use of the air conditioning, while they had a quick love making session on that fateful day. According to reports, Salina and Keith had gone to drop off something in the garage when they got the idea to have s*x in the parked car with the engines on. The two were discovered by a family friend who was sent by Keith’s brother to look for Keith in the garage. Emergency services were called but by the time they arrived, Keith and Salina were already dead. Their car ignition was still on but the engine had run out of fuel. Police speculated the two were still having s*x when they died because Johnson was still partially unclad in car. An eight-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by his teacher for failing to solve an maths problem. Sujit Munda reportedly died on Sunday, a week after complaining of severe pain following a caning by his tutor. The schoolboy’s father has filed a police complaint against the teacher, Mohammad Arshad Hussain, Al Jazeera reported. The 45-year-old has reportedly been suspended from the village school of Balsokra, in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. A post mortem has taken place to determine whether the boy died as a result of the corporal punishment. A police investigation found the teacher had caned Sujit after he failed to solve the arithmetic problem, according to Al Jazeera.

A little girl has baffled doctors by crying stones instead of tears. The Yemeni girl, 12, produces little hard stones under her eyelids. Doctors said they still could not give an explanation for such a phenomenon since the girl, Saadiya Saleh, is not suffering from any known disease. Unfortunately this triggered a panic in rural areas where they assumed the girl must be possessed by magic. A YouTube film aired by Yemen’s Azal satellite TV channel showed doctors gathered a small box full of stones that dropped out of the girl’s eyes in just a few hours. The local presenter said: “This case in the second strange phenomenon in the region.” “The case has triggered panic in the area where this girl lives… Some say the girl could be gripped by a magic spell while others say it might be the devil… Others fear it could be the start of a dangerous epidemic.”

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has dismissed claims by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC of spending money on kerosene subsidy which he calls a scam. Sanusi said this yesterday at the resumed Senate Investigative Public Hearing on un-remitted oil revenue in Abuja, stressing that the sum of $20 billion was un-remitted to the Federation Account by the NNPC, between January 2012 and July 2013. According to him, the NNPC has to prove that the $20 billion unremitted either did not belong to the Federation or was legally and constitutionally spent. The CBN Governor noted that the NNPC, by paying kerosene subsidy, confessed to a number of serious infractions. He backed his claim with data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, stressing that kerosene was not a subsidised product, adding that the so-called subsidy was rent generated for the benefit of those in the kerosene business. Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has reacted to comments attributed to militant leader – Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari describing him as a traitor and sell-out of the Niger Delta people saying it is a democracy and anyone can say whatever they want. Senator Babafemi Ojudu, representing Ekiti Central senatorial district, may have uncovered a massive fraud in the 2014 Appropriation Bill presently before National Assembly. The Executive Arm had last December submitted a budget proposal of N4.77 trillion separately before both chambers of the National Assembly but Mr. Ojudu, contributing to the debate on the piece of legislation at plenary yesterday, told his colleagues that he compared the 2014 budget with those of 2012 and 2013 only to discover that there was no significant difference between the 2014 budget and the two previous ones. A woman was found dead, her hands cut off and her cellphone and keys inside her sliced open stomach on Friday, Limpopo police said. The 20-year-old’s body was found in bushes at the Mandlikazi village near Letsitele, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said. “The body had its arms tied at the back, hands cut off and the deceased’s house keys and cellphone were placed inside her stomach which was cut open.” She was believed to be from the Relela village, about eight kilometres from where the body was found. “Police are not ruling out the possibilities of this being a ritual-related murder,” Mulaudzi said.

A 50-year-old man in the northern region of Lombardy in Italy was adopting cats from nearby shelters only so he could cook them and serve them as meals. It appears that the unidentified man took in about 15 cats, all around 3-years-old, black, and “meaty.” He would then kill the cats and serve them as food to friends at dinner. It is unclear whether his friends knew what they were eating. It appears the shelters became suspicious when the man refused to have any of the cats come in for checkups. Lorenzo Croce, president of the Italian animal welfare orgnization, Associazione Italiana Difesa Animali ed Ambiente (AIDAA), told Il Mattino that it was first suspected that the man might have been a Satanist and was performing some form of sacrifice.
