20 year old Isaac Anya Ojiabo Jr. (pictured above) has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother, Joy Ojiabo, who was found beaten and stabbed to death at their million dollar home in Forest Hill, Maryland. When police arrived at the home of 51 year old Joy Ojiabo around 5pm on Wednesday Jan. 29th, they found her suffering from multiple injuries, “to include a large, wooden handled knife protruding from her chest.”. She was pronounced dead 20 minutes later. Isaac Ojiabo Snr, the deceased’s husband who called the police said Isaac Jr., had escaped with his mother’s Lexus SUV after the stabbing. Police later located Isaac and the vehicle around 4:35 a.m. Thursday January 30th about a mile and a quarter from the crime scene. He told police they had fought and he lost it. A temporary wave of apprehension swept through the prestigious St. Nicholas Hospital, located at 57 Campbell Street, Lagos Island, on Sunday when fire broke out in a room on the 9th floor of the health institution, displacing over 40 patients on admission. It was learnt that the fire, which lasted for over an hour, was started by an electrical fault. Firemen told our correspondent that the fire did not spread to the medical wards. Confirming the fire disaster, the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe, said the fire service was prompt in responding to the fire outbreak even as he expressed relief that no life was lost in the incident. An apparently frustrated father in Owerri yesterday tied his seven children to a wheel-barrow and was on his way to an unknown destination before officials of Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development intervened. The 44-year-old man, Israel Dike, a native of Odenkume, Obowo Local Government Aarea of Imo State, who resides in Ugwu Ekwema, Egbu Road, Owerri, was going to sell his children, including his set of triplets. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has pledged to deepen its collaboration with the Committee of Chief Compliance Officers (CCO) of commercial banks to eliminate financial scam. The collaboration was the fallout of a recent meeting between the two bodies in Lagos at which they stressed the need for mutual trust and respect in sanitising the nation’s financial sector. The EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, said that banks were not targets of investigations, but the criminals who use bank platforms to commit crime or launder proceeds of crime. “Unfortunately, some banks, perhaps as a result of nascent pressure to post profits, shelter criminal elements to the detriment of the law,” he said. According to Lamorde, Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) remain a partnership between law enforcement and regulators on one side and reporting entities on the other side. The police in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested and charged a dog with biting a bank worker’s penis at  Idowu Anisere Street, off Governor’s Road in Ikotun, Lagos. The police also charged the owner of the dog, Adebowale Gabriel, 31, before Mrs M.B. Folami at Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court Lagos. The dog was specifically charged with assault, while Gabriel was charged with negligence under the Criminal Code. The arrest of the dog and Gabriel followed a complaint by the victim, Mr. Simon Anwam, to the police in Ikotun division that when he was walking on the street, the dog pounced on him and inflicted deep injury on his penis. A plastic surgery addict injected cooking oil into her face when doctors refused to give her any more silicone. Former model Hang Mioku has been left permanently disfigured following the DIY beauty treatment. After injecting an entire bottle of black market silicone into her face, Hang resorted to using cooking oil that left her face severely swollen and scarred. Her plights was featured on Korean television and viewers donated thousands of pounds to pay for corrective surgery. During the first of 10 operations, surgeons removed 60g of silicone, oil and other foreign substances from her face and 200g from her neck. However, Hang is still disfigured and she said she wishes she could have her old face back. Hang had her first procedure aged 28 and then moved to Japan where she had repeated treatments.
